Hello,
Some of the schools require me to send in a resume. I work in the IT industry and my resume is rather technical. Should I soften my resume in my application, or should I just use the same resume I would use if I were to apply for a job?

I would appreciate any advice on this topic.

thank you!

theGoodLife,

Thanks for your post. Keep in mind that a resume is essentially a marketing document - you are marketing yourself to a particular audience. While your current resume is probably fine for landing another IT job, it most likely will need to be modified to appeal to the business school adcom. For example, the adcom is not really interested in seeing a very technical resume, especially since they aren't working in the IT field. Instead, the adcom likes to see examples of your leadership and impact at work. For example, you should show how your IT work helped your IT client increase revenue or decrease cost.

Feel free to send me your resume - I would be happy to give you some more tips. In addition, we have a resume guide for sale on our website that you might find useful. https://www.clearadmit.com/ss_resume.html
