Hi Stacy, I was hoping you can give me some much needed advice on my overall profile for application to B-school. In addition what I should be looking for in my overall application to schools and how to strengthen my overall application to match that of my peers who are in the civilian sector of the workforce.
Age:30
Undergrad:
Penn State University
3.0GPA International Business & Management
3.3 GPA Minor in German
(GPA is slighlty lower that I would have liked it as I was a student-athlete all 4 years of college)
Some previous masters courses in IT 3.55 GPA
Hold a certificate in German Language proficiency from Heidelberg Universitat, Germany
Work Experience (7yrs):
Currently an Air Force Officer and Pilot. Prior to my military career held a middle management financial/ acquisitions officer position for a federal agency in Washington D.C. In both careers I have been directly responsible for assets in upwards of $30M. Also hold a federal warrant to sign for government acquisitions up to $5M
Have lived in Germany and Italy total of 14yrs
I am currently stationed in Atlanta and looking at submitting my application to Georgia Tech's MBA program. The average GMAT score there is 680. I realize it is good to have several schools as options and I will continue to look at other schools, however due to my current assignment I will be in Atlanta for the next 4 years. In addition my tuition will be covered at Georgia Tech (assuming I am accepted to the program) by my military benefits. I am starting to prepare my application and picking up study materials for a test date sometime in November or December 2009. What advice would you give to me as far as resonable preparedness and how my work experience will stack up with those in the private sector?
Any additional advice is greatly appreciated.
