Although Vs Even Though

Hi All,

Can someone please tell....is there any difference in using "Even Though" and "Although" in GMAT ?

For e.g. is there any difference in the below two sentences:

1. I studied all night, although I was very tired.
2. I studied all night, even though I was very tired.

a) Is there one that GMAT generally prefers over other? Or
b) there are any particular cases where one is preferred over other ? Or
c) there is no difference in their usage as far as GMAT is concerned.

Quick Tip -- Applicable most of the times but not always ...

Even though -- when the condition given is negative but the outcome/result is positive

eg -- Even though Ram hadn't studied, he passed the exam.

Although -- when the condition given is positive but the outcome/result is negative

eg -- Although Ram had studied very hard, he did not score well.

Thanks scoobydooby. As per the above link, we can use the above distinction broadly. But in the example that we are discussing...both condition and outcome are positive...

Which one do u guys think is correct here...."although" or "even though"

But there is one question in OG where Even though refers to +ve condition....e.g. Q 101 of OG-10,

"Even though the direct costs of malpractice....."

Similarly there is case of -ve with Although in OG....

"Although schistosomiasis is not often fatal...."

Can someone please tell is there any distinction in GMAT as far as Although and "Even though" is concerned or not ...or both can be used equally interchangeably?
