- the conjunction "and" between northern and southern alphabets requires a plural verb hence A and D are out

- "from which" refers to the script, so should not follow "it", hence B is out
- idiom is " something is derived from", eliminate E

We want to say that the Northern and the Southern Indian scripts derived from the A Script but we don't want to say that scripts were derived from the A empire

So C is the only correct response ( best response)
