Brazilian 680

by luizhprado » Tue Jun 16, 2009 6:51 am
Hi,

I just took the GMAT today. I got a 680 (V35 and Q47).

Here is my profile:

Age: 27 years
Country Brazil
Work Expe: 5 years (3 years on Investment Banking, will be 4 by sep/2010)
Industry: Enterpreneuship and Investment Baknig

I am planning to get into a top 5. Beyound my working experience I have also had 3 international epxrience in college, done social work and have a very untipical background. Should I retake the GMAT???

As I work a in Investment Banking I am afraid of retaking it, getting a worse score and not be able to revert it...

Hello,

The GMAT is somewhat low for top-5 but may not be a deal-breaker if other factors are unusually strong. It will be important to have a strong GPA from a reputable institution, because that will show your academic ability. Additional factors are strength of your professional record of achievement/impact/leadership and your extracurricular record.

Whether or not to re-take the GMAT is based on the following assessment: for an amount of effort/time that is reasonable for you in your current circumstances, how certain are you of raising your score by 30+ points? If you approach the question that way, you should be able to arrive at the answer of whether to re-take it.

Best regards,
