How to position for Haas?

by jasongmat2010 » Thu Jun 18, 2009 10:12 am
Hi Stacy! I love your blog and your insights posted on this message board. I would appreciate any tips you may have to offer regarding Berkeley. It's my dream school.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of Minnesota with Bachelors in Business --- 3.7 GPA. I have worked both external consulting with BearingPoint and internal strategy/marketing consulting at Thomson Reuters. I will have four years of professional experience.

Here is the kicker, I scored a 600 on the GMAT. I am committed to re-taking the exam, but was curious what you thought my chances may be for admission? How much do I need to improve? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jason

Dear Jason,

You need to score in the mid-50% range for Haas to have a decent shot, but close to/above the average to be competitive. Haas has a large applicant pool and can be highly selective. Thus you also need to submit a strong set of essays and recommendations, as well as have a great interview.

Best of luck,
Lisa
