MGMAT vs. Kaplan Tests?

by doclkk » Wed Jun 17, 2009 5:00 am
Hi:

I've been taking MGMAT and Kaplan tests.

On GMAT PRep I got 46Q/30V - 620 a few months ago.

On MGMAT I've gotten 40Q/30V. - 600

On Kaplan I've gotten 34Q/42V. - 620

What is the typical perception of these tests?

I feel that MGMAT is much harder than Kaplan in both verbal / Kaplan.

I've prepped some in verbal since the 30V on MGMAT, but can anyone speak of which test is most similar to the test?

In fact, which testing format is most similar?

I like Kaplan's tests in that they have colors. MGMAT's red with black is really dull.

In reading, Kaplan's test has paragraph blocks whereas MGMAT has more narrow columns. I feel that Kaplan's is more conducive to reading comprehension - IMHO.

I've got 8 Kaplan tests left and 3 MGMAT tests left and a GMAT prep test left.

What are you guys' thoughts?

MGMAT tests are more closer to real ones although their Quant is surely tougher than real GMAT.

Kaplan tests are overall tougher. They present lengthier passages and tougher Verbal IMO. Also, Don't go by scores presented by Kaplan. They have a very wierd way to calculate scores.

I felt that Kaplan's tests were easier. The verbal was significantly easier ... in my opinion. When I say significantly - I got 42 on Kaplan Verbal and I've been getting 30 on MGMAT.
