Hi All,

In the below question, the OA is [spoiler]"E"[/spoiler]. For kicking out "A", "B" and "D", OG says that, the options are not idiomatic. Can someone please help me understand why options "A", "B" and "D" are unidiomatic.

Although she had signed a pledge of abstinence while being an adolescent, Frances Willard was 35 years old before she chose to become a temperance activist.
(A) while being an adolescent
(B) while in adolescence
(C) at the time of her being adolescent
(D) as being in adolescence
(E) as an adolescent

all other options are wordy and awkward (they even use passive "being")
in A and B the use of while is redundant because Although and while is both used to show contrast

Can you please write in more detail why options are wordy and awkward...which grammar/language rules are they breaking ?

IMO "while" here is used to show continuity...not "whereas" or "although"...

Please tell if I am missing something here.
