Lack of Doctor is there

Hi All,

In the below question OG-10, Q146, OA is [spoiler]"C"[/spoiler]. For kicking out "A", OG says....choice "A" introduces the unidiomatic phrase "lack of some other doctor". Can someone please help me understand why "lack of some other doctor" is unidiomatic. What is wrong in the same ?

(A) if there is a lack of some other doctor to testify
(B) unless there will be another doctor to testify
(C) without another doctor's testimony
(D) should there be no testimony from some other doctor
(E) lacking another doctor to testify

"A lack of some other doctor" means that other doctors are unavailable. For example if we wanna say that "I do not have the resources to finish this job" I say I lack the resources to finish this job.

But here the meaning is different. It does not mean other doctors are unavailable. It means to say that the Mr.X cannot prove it without another doctor's testimony. The structure is "X will not happen without Y". This is the reason why you should eliminate A.

I would go with C which is clear, concise and grammatically correct.

sorry I could not understand your reasoning....

"other doctors are unavailable"...

IMO original sentence mean to say the same only....that the patient will not be able to prove some XYZ if there is no doctor to verify the same XYZ....

I am not able to understand how the option "A" is unidiomatic....unidiomatic as per my understanding breaks some grammar rule....Can someone please help me understand the same which grammar rule does "A" break ?

Does it mean that lack of people is not correct in GMAT. Can I keep this as a grammar rule in my mind. ....or there is some exception to this rule too ?
