GMAT Rookie

My name is Michael and here is my situation:

I’m finishing up my BBA in the fall and definitely going for my MBA right after. I’m about 75% sure that I am going to stay at my current university for Graduate School and if I do then I can actually get the GMAT waived so I won’t even have to worry about taking it. However, there is still a chance that I will apply elsewhere therefore I am going to take the test anyways. I am scheduled to take it at the end of August so I have a couple of months to prepare. I have always been pretty good at taking standardized test; I got a 34 on my ACT with zero prep so I have no idea how to prepare for a test like the GMAT. I’ve searched the forums a little and found that most people give themselves a little more time to prep then 2 months, but that is all that I have. Honestly, I don’t really have great study habits because I have always had the ability to “cram” and retain a lot of information in a short period of time. I know this type of test is different and I won’t be able to do that, so I am looking for some advice. I know absolutely nothing about this test so I’m starting from ground zero.

Are there any specific posts I should look at . . . any books that I definitely need to buy . . . online programs to download . . . software programs . . . ? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Acing the GMAT differs from person to person. I've known many ppl who could only get to a 600 level score even with 5+ months of preparation and there are many who got a 700+ score with one month or less preparation..
