420 official score :(

I made a official GMAT today and scored a 420 =(.


Got al 40 % at the math section and 8 % at the verbal section.


Should I buy the manhattan(review) books to improve my verbal?

I would suggest a simpler book first like princeton.. Once you've mastered everything in princeton, move to kaplan and then onto manhattan. I've been studying for several months and I've found steady progression plan has helped me a lot instead of jumping straight into the hardest problems that MGMAT would offer. It's not only counterproductive and frustrating... Just my 2c.

Put it this way, at least you got a good number for your score.

Although not my desired scores, 420 and 690 are my favorite score numbers (not scores).

I think there are two types of Manhattan books...Manhattan review and Manhattan GMAT.

I personally recommend the Manhattan GMAT books. both for quant and verbal. They teach concepts very well.

Thanks, I will try the manhattan GMAT. I scored well on the math section, but I screwed it on the verbal . I think my math can be improved, so I will go for the 650 next time

Sorry to hear that. How long did you prepare for the Gmat? How many practise CAT did you take?

I prepared 4 months and took 5 CAT's. Went in from 360 to 510 at the CAT's.

Give us more about your background. e.g. University major, nationality, general ability in Math and Verbal skills. I suppose you are good at Math but not at verbal? (Just like me )

Have you actually tried Gmat prep (or powerprep)? The official softwares are quite different from the commercial gmat softwares.

I'm Dutch ( The Netherlands ). On Highschool I had math B1 ( it's one of the thoughest math ) but it's already 3 years ago. Now I study a HBO education ( in English it's a university, so not academic ), where we focus on the verbal of the English language.

Yea I tried the GMAT prep and it went well ( the 2nd approach )

AWA: 4.5 / 42% ( didn't expect to score so high at this section :$ )
