510?? I got sucker punched by the GMAT!

I don't get it. I knew the material. My pace was excellent and I was not stressed during the test.

Taking all of practice test scores into account I averaged a 590 and climbing with each test. I used the GMAT Prep software and the ManhattanGMAT Prep Test. I feel so sick to my stomach...

Final scores:
V - 28/48%
Q - 31/30%
T - 510/39%
AWA 5.0/55% <--- I wasn't even trying to spend any mental energy on this section.

Now I'm sweating if I am going to get into my desired programs. A 580 and I was in without a problem.

Welcome to the world of GMAT.

The GMAT is one of the more humiliating and humbling experiences undertaken by the vast majority of people who attempt it. There are only a select few that get it right the first time. They are not here for obvious reasons (they have better things to do than to solve inequalities and work/rate problems), those lucky bastards.

I predict you will be hanging out here for the next few months at least if you plan to do a retake. May you journey be productive and full of insight.

Guys don't be so negative!

I know the secret to scoring 700+ and am going to share it with you: enjoy your prep and enjoy the test! Thinking that you'd rather have kidney stones than go for another round is not going to help you in any way. This is because negative feelings and such will work against you when trying to prep.

The GMAT is really a very carefully crafted test and you should see that: the multiple facets of a question... the really well written passages.... (I've already written something about this in my review) I know this might sound like crazy talk to you, since your experience with the test is less than perfect, but try to get past that and start fresh!
