Hi,

Please find below a detailed analysis by our founder.

Also, it might interest you to know that on our team, we have a mentor, who graduated from BITS, Pilani (one of the toppers and probably the only one to complete his 4 year degree in 3.5 years. He is also the youngest Indian to get into Yale SOM for an MBA). He had a 760 on his GMAT.

For further queries please PM us.

PROFILE EVALUATION

1. Your GPA is good. However it's not top of the line. This would be pretty neutral (more positive than negative is what we'd say to the maximum extent). However, BITS Pilani is one of the best engineering colleges in India and very well renowned. The adcom would know this and look at this favourably.

2. Your work experience is 'typical Indian Candidate' material (Engr/IT). However it is better as it is in IT consultancy. The consultancy part SHOULD make the adcoms take it more positively. Also, your work experience range is above the average of most schools and that would add considerable weightage.

3. The certifications would help, but remember, don't go overboard in stressing too much on them. This might give the perception that you are too serious/too involved in IT. Remember, balance is the key.

4. If your company allows, disclose the clients you worked with. As you said they are 'high end' this should impress the adcome: the fact that you worked personally with such clients.

5. The international exposure will boost your candidacy quite a lot, as it is not in a number of months, but about half the entire amount of work experience you have.

6. Your GMAT is a cause of worry. No offense, but we think you should re take it to show the consistency the adcom would expect from a candidate who went to one of India's top most (and thus extremely competitive) engineering schools. The quant score should reflect your caliber. You should target atleast 700, with above or equal to 49 in Quants. You can also work on iproving your verbal, as you would be spending $250 and thus should look at maximising the lessons learnt from the last time.

7. You have just mentioned extra currics but not stressed on what they were. So we cannot comment on that. Just mentioning an NGO will not help at all. Adcoms realize that a lot of Indian students write about NGOs and get certificates without doing much work. Until it is one where you did a lot of work and can demonstrate value addition/achievements etc., which you were able to achieve as a DIRECT result of your efforts, this shouldn't be too positive for your profile. Philately is a diverse interest, generally not seen and would be ok.

The schools you are targeting are good, especially NYU Stern as it's MBA Program (part time; Langone) is one of the best. For both schools:

1. Improve GMAT
2. Showcase personal efforts and results in the extra curric field to supplement your strong work experience.

All in all, presently your chances at these schools are a little towards the weaker side (again, we cannot comment properly until we have complete details about work/ extra currics etc.)

Hope this helps. All the best.
