I am not a quant jock but here's my best shot.
√(3y + 4) = y
(√(3y + 4))^2=y^2
3y + 4 = y^2
y^2 - 3y - 4 = 0
(y+1) (y-4) = 0
Y=-1,4
-1 * 4 = -4
So I would go with choice A.
