Based on data collected cannot modify John and Sigrid so A and B out IMO

E changes the meaning to more than one significant relationship

D gives the meaning the conclsuion took place earlier than then finding of the relationship.Changes tense "having based" and then "find"

I would go with C

Basing ... find

Wats the OA?

IMO A. The original sentence seems just fine.

I agree with Vemuri.
A would be my choice too.

I feel the usage of find in C distorts the meaning - indicating that the conclusion resulted in a finding of significant relationships Vs definitely concluding the significant relationship

A for me as well..
Based on.. seems accurate with the sentence...

The others are awkward construction

Agree...
In A, the modifier 'based on.. ' is for conclusion and not John and S..

It should be C

In C, Basing their conclusion clearly modifies John and Sigrid.

You can ask for yourself,
Basing their conclusion, (who were basing their conclusion - John and Sigrid)

If you think A, Based on data collected (What is based ? Is John and Sigrid based on the data collected ?) that is incorrect.
