Pls explain the logic for solving this problem. Answer seems to be A

i get A as well

1) x<1
if x=1/2 then x^2/x= 1/2 <1
if x=-1/2 then x^2/x=-1/2 <1
if x=-4 or any negative number then x^2/x => some negative number as x^2>0 . negative number <1
sufficient

2) x > &#8722;1
if x= 2, then x^2/x=2>1
if x=1/2, then x^2/x= 1/2 <1 from above
not sufficient
