Stacy, Please Evaluate...

by ufcoop03 » Sat Jun 30, 2007 11:19 pm
- 26 yr old, white male
- 3.9 Overall GPA (3.9 Major), Finance & Economics, University of Florida, c/o 2003
- 710 GMAT (taken once) -- 49Q, 37V
- 3 yrs, Financial Analyst at top tier global IB, private wealth management
- 1 yr, Equity Research Associate at boutique IB
- Recently diverted from the private sector to spend a year prior to b-school to give back to the community through aiding the efforts of a non-profit whose mission is aimed at enriching the lives of children with a range of mental and physical disabilities through cultural and recreational experiences
- Graduated Summa Cum Laude (thesis written), Phi Beta Sigma, etc.

I am leaning towards a Management track via the usual top 10 suspects -- HBS, Stanford, etc.

Please advise...thanks.

Hi ufcoop03,

You seem to have the right basic stats to apply to the top MBA programs, and I think you will want to concentrate on demonstrating your personal qualities and what sets you apart from others with a similar background.

You mention that you spent the last year working for a non-profit, which is certainly interesting, does that have anything to do with your career goals? I would think about what your overall story is - why MBA? Short and long term goals? And how you talk about your career trajectory thus far.

Good luck!
