The number goes with Singular and therefore i ruled out A, C and E. B is award and unclear (not sure if there is a typo in much their salaries), so i went with D

Actually the word " however much" is correct only and is used on GMAT..but it is jus not appropriate here.

I think howevermuch needs to be at the start of a fresh sentence...like Further

You might know that we need to choose between B and D.
There is no antecedent for their in B.

After so many days I am finding questions posted by you.I have hopefully answered some of them.

The number of ==> Singular, so options with Have in the beginning are out

Left with B and D

For B:Fit the Option back into the sentence:

Since 1975 the number of women in upper-level management in American corporations (B) has increased by 25 percent, however much their salaries lag behind those of their male counterparts.

check the bold face part

Their might be referring to women or American Corp.

D is certainly not the best answer but best among the given choices
