D - The usage of 'being' is generally wrong in GMAT SC
E - Again awkward construction. Also, loses the meaning.

I did not see anything wrong with A. If B was constructed as "Since his campaign for sanitary conditions in operating rooms was successful, ....", this would surely have been the best choice. But, the usage of past perfect & 'eventually successful' makes the construction awkward.

Also with option (B), there is no need for the word "eventually".
