MGMAT Virtual Course or KAPLAN or Veritas Actual Course?????

Hi all,

I did about a months worth of self study a few months ago and got a 640 on the GMAT. I want to go to the next level and hit the 700+ mark and want to enroll in a GMAT course or private tutoring. I'm located in London, where the course offering is a bit limited.

My options are:
1) MGMAT virtual/online course
2) KAPLAN actual course in London
3) Veritas actual course in London

Or some form of tutoring.

Any recommendations?

Also, if anyone has personal experience with the MGMAT virtual course, I'd be interested in hearing all about it.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

I took the VeritasPrep course and I was extremely disappointed in the instructors as well as the course. The only thing that was positive was the number properties booklet

The instructors just solved the problems in the book rather than explaining on how to go about solving the problem.

It is an absolute waste of time and $$$.

i enrolled in the MGMAT live course and, as a consequence, I have access to all of the recorded lectures from the online course. the online lectures are exactly like the live lectures. i would go into the live lecture and just listen attentively, and then take my notes by watching the recorded lectures. based on what i see from the recordings, the online lectures are very interactive and all students questions are addressed. also, the MGMAT study guides are great. the only weak point that I find is their online forum. they stress the fact that they do not want you posting questions on there from the OG or any real GMAT material (that's why I am coming on here lol).

also, with the live course, we received 30 mins of private tutoring every week. i believe that it is offered with the online course as well. I'm not sure of this point though.

other than that, I only have good things to say about the company. in fact, I recently signed up for their Quest for 750 online lectures. i haven't heard much about those, but I would be glad to provide a review once I have completed them in mid-April

Have you considered one of a self-study program (either on your own or with a company)? It is way cheaper and yet many students seem to succeed with it. In addition, the sheer amount of free content online makes this quite advantageous.

I bought the Veritas books last year and only had one session with a private tutor. I found that I was going to pay $100 USD / hr. when the tutor only went through the exercises of the book w/o really getting behind the theory or reasoning of the answers, only strategy. I then decided to study on my own all the material. The OG was very helpful. Unfortunately I got sick along the way so I postponed my taking of the test.

I am now in the process of taking the material back again and studying. I want to ask if there's anyone out there who used the MGMAT books and/or course and what your thoughts are about the quality of the materials/class.
