Consumer Groups getting Alarmed

Hi All,

In the below question, the OA is[spoiler] "B"[/spoiler]. Can somebody please help me understand why [spoiler]"B"[/spoiler] is better then [spoiler]"A" [/spoiler]?

While consumer groups have become alarmed over the high rates of interest on purchases made with certain credit cards, there has been no significant decline in demanding or using them.

a) no significant decline in demanding or using them.
b) no significant decline in the demand for or use of such cards.
c) neither a significant decline in the demand for, nor in the use of them.

As per the discussion there....in GMAT pronoun useage is based on context. Since groups, rates or purchases(all the plural pronouns preceding them)...cannot be demanded or used...so IMO them here is not ambiguous.

Please tell if I am missing something here.

Consider the following sentences


While consumer groups have become alarmed over the high rates of interest on purchases made with certain credit cards, there has been no significant decline in demanding them.( demanding them from whom? )

While consumer groups have become alarmed over the high rates of interest on purchases made with certain credit cards, there has been no significant decline in the demand for such cards.

Which one sounds better to ears?

Thanks Hemant. Surely "B" sounds better then "A".

Is there a grammatical rule too...(apart from sound right strategy ) ..... based on which we can kick out "A" ?
