The GMAT beat me :/

I took the GMATPREP test 1 two days ago and got a 440. It was the first practice test I tried. My real GMAT was today and I was optimistic. I knew I rushed through the practice. Also I didn't know what to expect.

I only need a 500 or higher to get into the program I want.

Anyways I took the test and got a 460(25q and 27v) today. I'm really bummed. I studied for the past month. the data sufficiency kills me and the quant was a lot harder today than on my practice test. Any suggestions on how I can from a 460 to 510? I have to have my score on record by March 1st.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get the score you were looking for. However, now that you know what your weakest areas are, you know what to focus on with the time you have left to study. I'd recommend going through the OG books again (if you haven't already done so), and really taking the time to sit down and study each question, and KNOW why the correct answer is correct and the wrong answers are wrong. Don't just breeze through the problems, but spend at least 10 minutes per question analyzing the answer choices.

You still have plenty of time left to study, and you should be able to get plenty of hours in. Take a couple more practice tests before the actual GMAT as well, and good luck!

what types of practice tests should i take?
i have the Kaplan Premier Program book but I heard people say those tests arent accurate with scores

You should buy princeton Review's book. It helps explain how to do Quantitive questions very SIMPLY. If your scoring low on the quantitive your getting some of the "easier"questions, that I'm sure you can get correct with the right approach.

Princeton Review's book will definitely help you out with this.

I took the test yesterday and improved from a 440 to a 530. The funny thing is I didn't even open the book to study in between tests. Also, while taking the test I was sure that I was doing much worse than the first time I took it.

All I have to say is I'm very relieved.
