GMAT scoring: help needed

Hi Guys,

Can you help me in understanding the GMAT scoring. If some scores correct 31 questions in Quant and around 35 questions in verbal (Assuming that the first 6 questions in both sections were correct as they have the more weight). how much would be his/her score out of 800?

No one will be able to tell you with certitude what the score will be because there are too many unknowns

1) We don't know exactly what the scoring algorithm is (it's GMAC's secret) so the best anyone can do is give you a range. 31 correct and 35 correct in Math and Verbal should get you well past 600 but it's really just a guess because there are other factors.

2) Your score will depend on the difficulty level of the questions you got correct and the difficulty level of the questions you missed. We don't have this data so even with the data from (1) above we would have insufficient info.

3) 1 in 4 questions is experimental and does not affect your score; since we don't know how how many of the questions you got correct were experimental (and so didn't count), we couldn't determine your score even if we knew (1) and (2) above.

4) Your score will be affected by the number of questions you leave unanswered. Since we don't have this information, we couldn't determine your score even if we knew (1), (2) and (3) above.

Generally, don't worry too much about how many questions you get right because this alone will tell you very little about how you're actually doing on your test. Your score is determined by so much more than that.
