Since deciding that Grad School was the right choice for me last month, I have been taking the time to get my application together and properly prepare for the GMAT. The downside is I am running up against several deadlines for the 31st of the month and 15th of next month.

A few simple questions:

How long does it take from the time you complete your GMAT for schools to recieve the scores? (I do not like the times/dates that are available and I am not sure if it is better to take the test 8AM this Thurs or wait till the end of next week, the 19th.)

How big of a disadvantages am I facing by applying at the end of the deadline even if I meet/exceed requirements? (I took the approach that I was better off getting my application completed to its best, including GMAT score, then to get my application in a month and a half before the deadline)

Thanks!

Dear JBGMATRookie,

It generally takes about 3 weeks for a school to receive your official GMAT scores. Sometimes schools receive the scores in less time, but 3 weeks is about average during peak test times such as now. You might check with the schools you are applying to on whether or not you can email/fax your unofficial score report to expedite the evaluation of your application. Many schools will take the unofficial report to "complete" your application, but wait until the official report is received before you are given a decision.

Yes, it is best to wait and submit when you have the best application possible versus rushing to get in an application.

Best of luck,
Lisa
