What a great community this is! I appreciate all the help and credit Beat the GMAT with helping me achieve this goal!!
First attempt (1/17/09)
Q35, V39 for a 610 Total. Earned a 6.0 on the AWA.
Second attempt (02/21/09)
Q38, V42 for a 670. I imagine my AWA will be a 6.0 again as I felt the essays were stronger this attempt.
I would probably spend another six months studying and try to retake and raise my Quantitative except for the fact that at 34 my career has stagnated and I don't think I can afford waiting any longer to start on my MBA. Plus I have two As and a B+ in the three courses in the University of Florida's business program with the most Quantitative work involved (Business Stats, Finance, Managerial Econ) which I hope might help my case. I will graduate in May with a 3.8 GPA/3.9 in Major, Magna Cum Laude.
I've had to tone down my initial goals of course and while I'm disappointed that I didn't join the "700 Club", a 670 should open many more doors than the 610.
I plan to apply for sure to the Univ. of Florida (where I've already basically been told I'm accepted) and the Univ. of Texas. I may take a shot at Duke or Yale, and then throw in one more mid-range top 25 school.
