There's no calculus on the GMAT, you'll never need to use derivatives.

As Stuart says, there's no calculus on the GMAT, so this is for interest only - GMAT test takers can ignore the following!

The derivative of c*x^m is c*m*x^(m-1). So if y = 7.489*x^(-1.27), then dy/dx = 7.489*(-1.27)*x^(-2.27).
