I have a couple of months US work experience as in the role of a business analyst.
Community Work, Extra-curricular and Hobbies
Have Co-founded an NGO 3 years back after passing out of college with the aim to help the underprivileged students across different states in India. Right now the NGO has been registered and has more than 200 direct beneficiaries. We regularly track the progress of the students by visiting the places and providing them with information and guidance other than monetary assistance. Our one-time initiatives include programs that we take up during floods or other natural disasters.
I am into public Speaking. I have co-founded a Toastmasters Club in my organization. Have taken up leadership Roles to create the platform where co-workers can hone their public speaking and leadership skills. Played part in membership building activities, marketing and currently I am the “Vice-President Education” of the Club. Also involved in networking with a number of Toastmasters Club and organizing Speech Contests.
I have undergone training in Indian Classical music under eminent personalities with International fame. I have completed formal training in Indian painting. Played TT and attended several state organized coaching camps but didn’t pursue after High School. I travel a lot. Trekking is one of my hobbies which helped me a lot in self development.
I did not have much time to research and apply to many schools. My focus is MBA in Systems. I applied to 2 B schools: Purdue: Krannert and UT Austin: McCombs and got admits.
My Questions:
1. Due to financial reasons I think I shall have to join Purdue: Krannert if at all. As US is going through a slump do you suggest to wait for a year and buy some more time for economy to revive and also gather some more savings.(This has one assumption that I shall make it next year as well, which may not be a wise assumption) ?
2. Do you think my profile is good enough to try for some more Top 20 US B-schools or should I go for Krannert as it is pretty good in systems?(I am looking for MBA in Systems and McCombs is not an option due to financial reasons)
3. Can I work in US with a student visa after an US MBA or do I have to get an H1?
I would be thankful if you could answer my queries.
Regards,
Arka
