Excuse my Ignorance, but....

by mkbigmoz » Wed Feb 11, 2009 2:10 pm
Why are the first 10 questions on the GMAT more valuable than the last 5?

My assumption of the test is as follows. Your first question is worth 550 points. If you miss the question, your next question will be at the 540 level. If you answer correctly, the level will go back up to 550. I imagine it's somewhere along those lines.

Lets say you are at level 630 on question 33. You answer incorrectly, the next level should be at 620, correct? Is the degree of fluctuation smaller during the later questions and larger during earlier questions? Or is it relatively the same throughout all questions?

Thanks

This issue has been raised a few times in the past. Check out Stacey's great post on this on this long thread: https://www.beatthegmat.com/my-blog-erro ... 99-75.html

Good luck!
