Recommender review option

Hi,

Does anyone know what advantages, if any, are inherent in waiving the right to examine a recommendation?

Although I have carefully selected my recommender's, if there is no disadvantage to reviewing their recommendations, I do not see why this should be an option.

Please note that I come from an international schooling system.

Dear Hung,

If you are not worried about what you recommenders write (and you shouldn't be if you picked the right ones), then you should waive your right to review the recommendations. If you reserve the right to review the recommendations, then the school might worry that your recommenders are not being as candid as they could be, and as a result, the recommendations will not have as much value as they could towards strengthening your application.

I was unaware that the universities could take this into account in making ther assessments.
