Like many others of his generation of Native American leaders, Joseph Brant lived in two worlds; born into an Iroquois community and instructed in traditional Iroquois ways, he also received an education from English speaking teachers.

Answer should be A.

The first clause should modify Joseph Brant. B & D do not.

The word "like" should be used to compare two nouns. I believe the nouns would be two worlds. Also notice that the first clause can stand alone because of the semi-colon. Basically the sentence can be read "Like many others of his generation of Native American leaders, Joseph Brant lived in two worlds ." So eliminate E.

So A vs. C now.

C has an awkward phrase "another." I don't even believe that makes any sense.

So you are left with A.

like is appropriate here.. comparing two nouns
D,E out
B --has modifer issue. JB should modify "Like many others.."
C --> looks like run on sentence.. also "many another" --> wrong
