2009-10 MBA in U.K - Job prospects.

by frizo » Wed Feb 04, 2009 9:25 am
Hi,

I have 5 years of work ex in banking domain (IT industry) and am 30 yrs old. I was planning for an MBA in U.K for 2009 intake. But, now i am bit sceptical. The economic situation in U.K looks like worsening everyday. I am concerned about job prospects by end of 2010 (Post MBA) . I have to take a bank loan to sponsor. So, Will it be better if i apply for 2010 intake. I hope by 2011 economy will look better.
I will be taking the GMAT by end of march .

You opinion will be valued.

Thanks
Firoz

Dear Firoz,

No one can predict what the economy will be like a year from now or two years from now. You assume some level of risk any time you enter a graduate program that there will be job opportunities when you graduate in your field. The folks who entered in fall 2007 probably did not expect the market to look as it does today. Many folks believe we are at the bottom of the economic cycle and should be in an improved state by spring 2011, but there is not a definitive way to know. I think you need to consider if you are ready and determine if you have a high enough risk tolerance to enter school in a bad economy.

Good luck,
Lisa
