I have a doubt here. Is sqaure not a subset of rectangle? Can we not call a square a rectangle?

I agree with Prasanna. square should be considered a kind of rectangle.

The answer is E because a quadrilateral can be constructed with 2 opposite
sides as 90-deg without being a rectangle (don't choose this choice in SC :-)
as it uses "being" ha ha).
