Work Experience

by bk136587 » Tue Feb 03, 2009 2:31 pm
Hi,

I have a full time job offer at an Investment Bank in July, however graduated early (3.5years) from my school and recieved an offer to work at a different Inv. Bank in the meantime. The only way I was able to be brought on board though was through a temp agency. I am curious how this would look on a application. It will be about 5 months of work in accounting, vs the banking area I will be going into in the Summer.

Will this hold any weight on an application?

Thanks.

Dear bk136587,

I commend you for finding employment for the time between school and your job in July. It is not a negative that you will be employed through a temp agency and that is quite common for positions lasting only a few months outside of a formal internship program. I also think it will be beneficial to your personal development to gain some experience in the accounting function prior to embarking on your banking career. In my opinion, there is nothing negative about your temp job unless you perform poorly.

Best of luck,
Lisa

Thank you for the reply.

I am curious if that experience or any internship held while in undergrad would be considered as "work experience."
