Toefl Mandatory?

by vaishnavi_d » Sat Jan 24, 2009 8:06 am
Hi Stacy,
I was supposed to give my toefl on Jan 24th(today). However, i missed it due to unavoidable circumstances. I am planning to apply to NUS singapore for my MBA. The deadline for the same is 31st Jan. There are no dates available till the 14th of Feb (for toefl). The NUS MBA website states "TOEFL/IELTS: TOEFL Applicants whose undergraduate degree was not in English are required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. The TOEFL code for NUS is 9082 Department Code 02. The IELTS code for NUS is 0677. The IELTS code for NUS is 0677. Visit TOEFL or IELTS for more information."

My education has always been in English . Kindly let me know if it is mandatory to write my toefl or if i can apply to the school without my toefl going by the website.
Looking forward to your response.

Thanking you,
Vaishnavi

Dear Vaishnavi,

You will need to contact NUS and ask them if you need to take the TOEFL. In the US, you would be required to take the TOEFL because your degree is not from the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand or English-speaking Canada. I would suggest contacting the school as soon as possible to clarify if that will be a requirement for you. If it is, then I would ask them if you submit your application with everything but TOEFL scores by Jan. 31 and take the TOEFL on Feb. 14 if it will still count in that round.

Good luck,
Lisa
