I am currently waitlisted @ Georgetown. They do not allow contact and do not provide specific feedback but give guidelines about items to submit (GMAT Score, 3rd LOR, Updated Essay about changes). I have a 620 with a skewed score over 2 exams (one has a higher Verbal -74%, the other has a 75% quant). If I were to put the scores together, I would have a high 600. My question is if I take it and do not score higher, am I in trouble, is this an automatic ding? Can there be any positives taken from this? Also in the same context, I applied to UVA and I spoke with one of their admission managers (the people who prep the applications) and she noticed my skewed score and said she is in charge of the presentation of the apps and would present it with both high scores. Does this help my case in anyway @ UVA? Rest of my profile 3.5 GPA, 3 years w/e in corporate finance and good EC’s. Thanks for your opinion.
Dear jarome101,
You can take the GMAT again without sending the score. Once you know how you did, then you can send it to Georgetown if you did better. If you decide to send it without knowing the score and you do not score better, it does demonstrate your commitment to going to business school and your perseverance in trying to do better on the test. If you do decide to take it, just do your best to prepare and score at least 30 points better.
As for UVA, I cannot say how that will help or not. It seems like it would, but that is not the normal way the test is used in the evaluation.
Good luck,
Lisa
