Consider as...not the correct idiom. Eliminate B and C (C also uses being)

In D (himself or herself ...not required. use themselves as reflexive pronoun )

E changes the meaning of the sentence. also makes the clause "few truly great artists consider themselves visionary," non essential, but the clause is essential to the sentence. eliminate E.

With regards to A:

"...many lesser talents boast about their own destiny..."

Can't the singular form of destiny here be read as a collective noun - i.e. the destiny of all lesser talents?

i.e. "Native Americans lament their history of displacement."

Can anyone explain why "own destiny" is OK here, instead of "own destinies"? I also thought B was correct when I originally posted the sentence.
