Company policies require every project group to have an even number of employees, include representatives of at least 3 ethnic minorities (Asians, African and Hispanic Americans), contain at least 33% women, and at least one supervisor with an MBA degree per 5 employees. The company is planning to start a lithium panel project together with a Taiwanese partner. The team will include 3 top scientists and 2 assistants from Taiwan. With the following additional employees available, what is the smallest team size to make sure that the project meets the policy requirements?

Name GMAT Degree Ethnicity
Albert male LLM American
Bethany female MBA American
Boon male M.S. Asian (Singapore)
Chicako female B.A. Asian (Japan)
Godwin male M.A. African (Nigeria)
Grace female B.A. American
Helen female M.S. African American
Jamal male MBA African American
John male MBA American
Maria female Ph.D. Hispanic American
Peter male MBA American
Rachael female B.A. American

My answer would be C.

Team size must be even: Choices B and D are out.

The team already consists of 3 Scientists and 2 Taiwanese (a total of 5 so far, with two Asians included). The remaining employees to be choosen must include Maria (the only Hispanic in the list).

If team size = 8, I need to choose 3 remaining employees. I need them all to be women, to ensure the 33% quota. And I would need two MBAs out of these 3, but only 1 woman (Bethany) has an MBA. So a team size of 8 is NOT possible.

If team size = 10, I need to choose 5 remaining employees. I need at least 4 of them to be women to ensure the 33% quota. And I need two MBAs out of the 5 employees. So I'll pick 4 women (including Bethany), and a male MBA, Jamal.
Criteria
Even team size : OK
33% women : OK (Bethany and 3 other women)
2 MBA's : OK (Bethany & Jamal)
Ethnic requirement: OK (Jamal-African, Maria-Hispanic, 2 Taiwanese-Asians)

So my answer is 10, C.

Can we make assumption that assistant from taiwan would be asian only? Isn't possible that someone from anywhere in the world working in taiwan ?

Even, if we don't make that assumption, one of the 4 women you choose could be Chicako (to satisfy the Asian criterion).
