710. I did it!!

by hernan » Tue Jan 13, 2009 10:38 am
Hi guys,

Just to tell you that I got an unexpected 710 (47,40) right two hours ago!!

To be honest, in Spain, where I am, people normally do not know too much about this exam, so, as I can not share my huge happiness with anyone who really understands my achievement, I have to do with you!!

Additionally, I would like to thank you all for advising and sharing your knowledge. Actually we are compiting among each other to get into the B-Schools, so helping each other to improve our Gmat score, as we do in this forum, is something great.

Thanks for your desinterested help again!

That infact work towards your good.

as per above info, your community is not very much represented so you have better chances to get selected

hence, the advice...But I dont think there is anything wrong in over representation of any community..This infact shows how competitive they are...

Thanks all for you replies. Just some comments:

1. Any tip to share? Try to start very fast quant and if you do not know a question just skip it. Definitely, feeling that your are running ot of time makes you very nervous.

2. More possibilities for being Spanish? I hope so :D

3. Any school to apply? Obviously this mark changes my focus. Do you think that I have any apportunity to get into the top 5?(I have 4 years experience -2 in E&Y and 2 in Andersen Consulting´s "son" in Spain- and toefl 101)

4. Unfortunately I support Real Madrid...I did have choice living so close to Santiago Bernabeu stadium! Bad time for us but we always return!

Thank guys for your posts

Actually we are compiting among each other to get into the B-Schools, so helping each other to improve our Gmat score, as we do in this forum, is something great.
I don't really agree with the fact that we are competing against each other. Just like in cosumer goods, the moment you think you are fighting for the same hot-spot you are left just with shouting louder and lowering the offer, id est, higher GMAT and more bull--tting on applications.

I would see two good reasons for helping each other without problems.

The first one is differentiation. If we were just competing on GMAT and GPAs, I would agree, but since the real difference is made from your story, which means every one of us is intrinsically different. By coincidence I have your same GMAT and am also a consultant, still I am sure our stories are so different that our files are not in the same bucket. Therefore I will be happy to share with you my experience in applying (hopefully I will say soon successfully applyin) to the top schools. I sincerly mean it.

The second reason are quotas. I don't know if all schools apply them (and how strict they are in doing so), but if they do the number of people you are actually competing against is unlikely to be fully on this forum.

Pues... !Buena suerte a todos!
all the best!
