Does A pose a parallelism problem with "they denounce...while supporting", or is it acceptable to use the present participle precisely because "while" introduces a simultaneous action?

Ex: "He talked on the phone while running" is OK, or would you have to write "he talked on the phone while he ran?"

Yes, in A, parallelism is not a problem because it is contrasting 2 actions. Take another example:

He ran while sipping coffee from his cup.

He ran while he sipped coffee from his cup.

In the first sentence, the concurrent action is clearly highlighted even though the verbs are not parallel.
