Hi Stacey,
I was wondering if you would please evaluate my profile.
GPA= 3.4 overall (upper division GPA = 3.83)
major= Economics
school= California State University Northridge
Background= Latino
GMAT with breakdown= I have not taken it yet. I'm pretty sure I can get at least a 650.
- resume highlights, including company name, job titles and promotions
- I have worked since I was 16. Started with entry level jobs such as
cashier, customer service, and sales associate.
-At 22, was promoted to account executive with a major
telecommunications firm in downtown Los Angeles after one year
with the company. At the time, I was the first person without a
degree to obtain such a position. A few months later, I was
promoted again to telemarketing sales manager.
-I have also worked as an assistant branch manager for Hertz
- extracurricular involvements
-As mentioned before, I worked throughout my college years, so I
do not have too many extracurricular activities. I was a member of
the Student Finance Association. Also, I volunteer at local daycares.
I feel it's important to give children from broken homes a positive
role model. I've been doing that for a couple hours a week for about
3 or 4 years.
- awards, patents, publications, etc...
-Academic awards: dean's list several times, Certificate of
Excellence from the College of Business and Economics (at CSUN).
Only 5 other people or so received this award the year I graduated.
Unfortunately, I have no patents or publications.
- interesting personal facts - countries lived in, challenges faced, unusual interests
-I have only lived in the United States, but my family is from
Colombia, so I have spent a fair amount of time there.
- Not sure if this would be considered a challenge or not, but my
parents never went to college. My father in fact had to drop out of
high school here in the states to take care of the family when my
grandpa died, so I never really received much help when it came
to education.
Also, when I was younger, one of the reasons I started working
was to help my parents with financial troubles. Like I said before,
not sure if that would really qualify as a challenge.
- Interests: Traveling. At one point I took an extra job to save up
for a 2 month Europe trip after graduation. I have been to
China, Hong Kong, Macau, Mexico, Canada, England, France,
Spain, Italy, Greece, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic,
Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium.
I also enjoy sports (played hockey for 10 years), snowboarding,
poker, reading, music (I dj), etc.
What score on the GMAT do you think I would need to get into UCLA or USC?
I was wondering if you would please evaluate my profile.
