DS Problem

by rkh13 » Sat Jan 10, 2009 3:14 pm
Q: What is the value of x, if x and y are prime numbers?

1. x+y=14
2. 198 is divisible by xy

The app says the answer is
E
but why isn't the answer
C
Given x and y are prime numbers

Stmt I
x+y=14
x=3 y=11
x=11 y=3

INSUFF

Stmt II

198 divisible by xy
x=2 y=3

x=3 y=11

INSUFF

Stmt I and II together

x=3 y=11
x=11 y=3

We cant say for sure if x is 11 or 3

Choose E)

Hope this helps!

Regards,
CR
