by 316kmph » Mon Jan 05, 2009 11:07 pm
Hi,

I would like to know what are my chances of getting into:

1. An ivy league b-school's MBA program?
2. Kellogg, Stanford, Berkeley, Sloan, Duke, UCLA and the likes?
3. CMU, Purdue, UNC Chapel Hill, UT Austin and the likes?

I am Indian,

GMAT 650 (Q49, V30) (2nd attempt)

Bachelors in Civil Engineering with 70% (first class) (no GPA system, had a few backlogs) (passed out in June 2006)

A Director on board of my family owned Real Estate Development business in south India. Handled various process of the business right from finance, marketing, Human Resource , operations (including planing, construction, purchase, legal and taxation), strategy and administration. All this for the last 2.5 years.

What are my chances? Do you think there are some specific schools that i must try? Kindly help me.

Thanks in Advance.

Dear 316kmph,

Gaining admission to any of the schools you listed will be tough with your current profile, especially for entry in fall 2009. You are competing against other international students for a small number of seats, and while your work experience is interesting, your GMAT score is low for this subset of the applicant pool. Without increasing your GMAT score at least 40 points, I think you should consider applying to smaller programs that are not necessarily ranked in the top 30 of BusinessWeek/US News/Financial Times. Your best chances are at schools with GMAT averages under 650 and are a good match for your career goals.

Best of luck,
Lisa
