Okay one of the splits is

Economic vs Economical

Social is parallel to Economic NOT Economical SO

B, C and OA is out

Between A and D

A. have to know a great deal more than now about the social and economic

We need a subject and a verb before NOW to complete the comparison.

D. would have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economic
