Hi,

I am an engg grad with 5 years of work ex in IT.
I have good extra curricular s social activity, pioneering cultural entity, and have played at good level in sports/cricket.
However, in this my GMAT score is a little low .
In the first attempt, i got 520. An attempt taken six months later, i got 660.
I intend to apply for executive programs, even 2 year prog from a good institute will also do good.

Plz evaluate my chances for B-Schools like ISB, Darden, NUS, HKU, ESADE, INSEAD and also suggest few schools from tier 1 where i will have good chance of getting admission.
plz comment on taking the 3rd attempt and probable consequences of the same.

Dear Coolguy007,

I think your chances at some of your schools are higher than others, but at all you will be in a large subset of the applicant pool with similar work experience and education. Your GMAT score will possibly be a little below average for this subset, so you might consider trying to increase your GMAT score on a third attempt. Nevertheless, what makes the difference for any applicant is how well you put your application together. It is imperative you present a strong rationale for why you want a MBA, how it fits into your overall career plan, and why the school you are applying to is a good match for you. Likewise, you must distinguish yourself from the competition and demonstrate successful leadership experiences/evidence of leadership potential.

I encourage you to visit our sticky on school selection for tips on how to select programs.

Good luck,
Lisa
