Positive and Negative integers fall under odd or even consideration.

I should add 0 is non positive and non negative and it is even.

Good point about zero. Lots of data sufficiency questions hinge upon your knowing the zero properties.

While we're at it, 0 and 1 aren't prime!

Jim,
Good point! I think it would be right to add that only intgers are considered for even/odd determination.

If the question reads is x even we can say the question is asking is x an even integer?

Thoughts/suggestions welcome!

Yes, that's true. Even/odd only applies to integers (negative, zero, and positive).

Hi,

Sorry to start this again, but I am asking specifically about the GMAT here....

as far as i can remember, in higher maths, ALL Rational numbers can be classified as odd or even, depending on whether their last digit is a multiple of 2, even for decimals.

just wanted a GMAT perspective here...

Thanks.

When we say odd or even we refer to only INTEGERS (applies to GMAT also).

Negative integers
0-> Non positive and non negative
Positive Integers

Hope this helps!
