question about similar-applicant pool!

by FamilyGuy » Fri Dec 26, 2008 10:08 am
Hi,
I was just going thru the profiles here, and one of the guy on this forum
has almost exact same educational and professional background as I do. We have degrees from the same undergrad Univ (IIT India). But my GMAT is lower than his (730 Vs 770)
My question is - If we both are applying to Stanford, will I be rejected on the basis of similar credential but much lower GMAT??
I got an interview from Stanford and waiting for results .

Dear FamilyGuy,

No, you will not automatically be rejected because your GMAT is lower. Decisions are made on the entire application, including your interview, so it is possible you may both be admitted, rejected or waitlisted---it is also possible there are many other applicants that look similar to you. Stay positive and keep busy while you wait.

Good luck,
Lisa
