I dont know about the first sentence but for the 2nd and 3rd a better sentence structure could be either:

2 The car is fast
3 The box is heavy

OR

2 The faster speed
3 The heavier weight. In this case your using faster and heavier as adjectives and not nouns.

Plus I feel The speed is faster is redundant, because its understood that the speed is fast and the weight is heavy so no need to state weight and speed specifically.

Just my opinion.

I have noticed somewhere in the verbal supplement that GMAT prefers to stay away from "The numbers" Dont rem the qtn no though.

As far as SVA agreement is considered,

we have concrete answers only for "The number of " and "A number of"

numbers of is always wrong...

but what i am saying is that

number can be more... ??

I could see on OG question, wherein
numbers are more is wrong !
numbers are greater is right!

I am sure "numbers are more" option was incorrect as it might have changed the meaning

( I hope your referred to the The gyrfalcon, an Arctic bird of prey example)

so...you cant just make a thumb rule that "The numbers of " is right or wrong ..It depends on the sentence..
