seeking explanations 4 the answers

Dear all,
Below are 2 questions with their answers which i am not sure if are correct.


Question: He described the principal feature of the new version as its high speed.
Answer: He described the principal feature of the new version being its high speed.

Question: His way of doing things was different from that of the previous instructor.
Answer: His way of doing things was different from what the previous instructor did.

I both the cases, i feel the original sentence is the answer and need no modification to be gramatically correct. Can anybody explain the reason for these answers?
Please help.

what is the source of your questions?

i have some word docs which i got from somebody on a forum like this.
These questions are from one of those word documents only.

it may be possible the answers are not actually correct as the source of the questions is ananymous. So can anybody plz confirm if my understanding is correct and the answers are actually wrong as they seem.

The answers certainly do not seem correct. It's best to avoid such ambiguous sources for your preparation. Stick to standard books if possible. There are plenty of good resources (standard ones) available, and they are sufficient to ace the GMAT.
