Think compared to is wrong. Simply just need "to." I prefer apples to oranges. Not I prefer apples compared to oranges. The use of the word convinced, leads me to think that "will" is better than "would."

Between A and B. We don't need subjunctive 'would' The executives are convinced about the fact so use will. Subjunctive would be fine if the executives were not too sure about the fact or if they were hoping for the fact to be true.

Though this one had many other clues to throw the wrong options out, the OA for the question from mgmat forum, does start with 'Despite the fact that' and it has Stacey's blessing as well.

Compare the use of despite:

1. Despite the fact that I left work early, I nevertheless got home late.

2. Despite having left work early, I nevertheless got home late.

In sentence 1, "I left work early" could also function as an independent sentence.

In sentence 2, "having left work early" cannot function as an independent sentence.

if we have mistakes like idiom mismatch , pronoun error, subveb basic grammar errors they always take precedence over Wordiness .
