Hi,

My profile - Indian female - 8 years in IT ..

age - 30
undergrad - 3.7
MS - 4.0
GMAT - 690(Q 49/V 35) AWA - 6.0

My target school is Emory Goizuetta. I was late in attempting my GMAT and hence did not focus on the essay until now. But the R2 deadline is DEc 8th and there is no way I can do a good job with the 4 essays by then. Should I still try to meet that deadline?
Or wait until round 3 deadline in Feb? Do R3 applicants have any chance of getting in? On an average, what is the percentage of R3 applicants that are selected?
Also, is there an advantage to attending an interview with the school before submitting the application or after submitting the application?

Please advice.

GG04,

Thanks for your note. Based on your academics and GMAT score, you should be competitive at Emory Goizuetta. The key is just whether or not you have the time to complete the application in the next 6 days. If you are able to draft high quality essays this week and submit a high quality application by Dec 8th, then you should aim for this deadline. However, if you know that you need more time, then apply for the February round. Meaning, I would rather you submit a high quality application in the February round than submit a rushed application in the Dec Round. Feel free to contact me if you would like some feedback on your essay drafts.

Regarding interviews - ideally you should interview when you have completed your application. This way, you can make sure that your answers in the interview match your application.

Sincerely,

Eliot Ingram
